BALLINROBE

Ballinrobe is a town located in County Mayo, Ireland. Ballinrobe is lies on the River Robe, which runs into Lough Mask about 2 KM (1.25 miles) to the West.

Ballinrobe is located about fifty kilometres 48 km (31.25 miles) North of Galway, on the N84 major road, which the main route between Galway and Castlebar.

Ballinrobe has become a bottleneck for traffic passing through, and is a bypass road is planned for the future.

There is a bus service that runs 3 times a day between Galway and Ballina, and passes through Castlebar and Ballinrobe.

Ballinrobe today is a busy market town, and it's recent growth contributes to the Irish building boom, and its development as a dormitory town for both Castlebar and Galway.

The town has seen a lot of immigrants from the new EU member states. A recent census results has shown that over a quarter of the town's residents are from overseas.

Ballinrobe has a racecourse and It is the only Racecourse in County Mayo. The racecourse is located approximately 1.6KM (one mile) from the town centre, on the N84 major road, and is one of only four racecourses in Connaught.

Horse race meetings have been taking place at this location since nineteen twenty one, and before that at other locations around the town.
