ACHILL ISLAND, COUNTY MAYO

Achill Island is the largest island off the Irish coast in county Mayo. It lies off the West coast, and has a population of about three thousand.

To the West of the island are the cliffs of Croaghaun, which are the one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe.

Keel Beach and Keem Bay are located to the far West of the island, and are very popular with visitors who are keen on surfing. To the South of Keem beach is Moytoge Head, which is rounded in shape, and drops sharply to the ocean.

Achill Island is a very popular tourist destination, and has many restaurants, cafes and bars, which serve a wide range of food.

But it is the seafood which is a speciality on the island, with seafood dishes such as Lobster, Trout, Salmon and Mussels. With a large cow population, Achill produces high qaulity beef, and also the same with lamb.
